The energy and utilities industry has eyes wide open that transmission is as important as generation in the march toward a decarbonized future. Solutions to building and siting new transmission are needed, so a novel approach from PJM and the State of New Jersey is most welcome.

That solution has been sitting and waiting since the implementation of FERC Order 1000 in July of 2011. So that you don't have to search through the Order's over six hundred pages, PUF brings you here the experts from PJM, to explain the state agreement approach, entered into with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.

Those two together have filed at FERC for approval of a groundbreaking offshore wind transmission grid solicitation. PUF talked to PJM's Asim Haque and Ken Seiler to explain why this innovative approach could serve as a national blueprint for transforming how state clean energy priorities are incorporated into the regional transmission planning process.
