NARUC celebrated International Women's Day 2022 and the achievements of women in the energy sector via webinar by sharing the stories of women and highlighting the importance of mentorship and internship programs. Speakers also discussed impacts such programs have had on their career development.

With funding support from the USAID's Bureau for Europe & Eurasia, Energy Infrastructure Division, NARUC is supporting women leaders in energy regulatory agencies through the Advancing Women Leaders in Energy project. The project's main goals are to change the sociocultural norms at select energy regulatory commissions in Europe and Eurasia to become more gender-sensitive and support women as they move into leadership positions.

The PUF team listened in on this important session and learned that the mentor-mentee relationship ultimately goes both ways. Listen in as these extraordinary women share their stories of growth, excerpted here.

Director of International Programs, NARUC, Erin Hammel: Welcome to the NARUC celebration of International Women's Day 2020. NARUC is happy to partake in this global initiative that highlights the achievements of women in society and underlies the need to accelerate actions that improve gender equity as a means to achieving gender equality.
