At the Distributech mega-conference in Dallas, senior experts explain their technology that can have the greatest impact on distribution grid efficiency and resilience. What follows are conversations with Hitachi Energy executive vice president Anthony Allard, Schneider Electric senior vice president Alexis Grenon, SEL CEO Dave Whitehead, Smarter Grid Solutions Executive Director Alan Gooding, mPrest CEO Andy Bennett, and Deloitte vice chair Jim Thomson.

PUF: Why are you here at Distributech? What are you looking to hear, or learn, and say to people?

Dave Whitehead: Distributech is a fabulous conference to attend just because you can congregate with a lot of customers and partners from around the world. It's an easy place to show up to here in Dallas.

The other aspect is that there is a lot of growth in the distribution sector within our industry. We look at the buildout that has to happen, with the electrification of everything, and the integration of distributed energy resources. It's great to be able to interact with customers, and see what questions they're asking, because as a provider of solutions, it's helpful to match up their needs with what we're capable of doing.

It's a great opportunity. My motivation for coming here is to be able to meet a lot of folks, connect with them, see what their challenges are, and see how SEL might go about solving those problems.
