Electric vehicle adoption is being called for by governments and automakers, yet barriers stand in the way. Even where a utility is located will bring in major factors to be considered, such as the state of the grid, and what the utility's infrastructure and load mix looks like.

At the residential EV level, a whole new set of issues must be considered, starting with the basics, such as finding out which customers even own an EV. From there, utilities have to provide education on a plethora of issues involving charging and pricing.

It's a challenging environment for utilities to be in, which is why Uplight has stepped into the residential EV sector, giving guidance to utilities on how to structure plans or programs for customers. Listen in as Uplight's Director of Innovation Solutions Erin D'Amato unravels some of the challenges surrounding mass residential EV adoption.

Erin D'Amato: Right now, Uplight's platform is primarily focused on the residential sector. Initially, a lot of utilities have been spending the majority of their time focused on the fleet and C&I space.
