Houston was the gathering place for leading energy, industrial, and government executives in mid-November for Reuter's Energy Transition North America. Key industry changemakers met and strategized the path to decarbonization and how to deliver net zero. Public Utilities Fortnightly was at the conference and talked with key changemakers on these important issues and more.
 

PUF's Steve Mitnick: You're at the Reuters conference and one of the major speakers. When you made plans, what were you thinking of as takeaways from this conference?

Brandon Spencer: It's important for us now to try to continue to change the narrative of what's going on in energy. Everyone talks about energy transition, and there's a public perception that can happen overnight, but every previous transition has taken decades and decades, fifty years for each one.

We need to make sure we have realism and optimism, but that we deliver both messages. That was the goal of coming here, to give our perspective on the energy transition and the role technology plays.

PUF: With a tremendous amount of innovation, it seems like there're always new products coming out, but what's important for that transition to go as fast as people want?
