Sal Salet is VP for Distribution at PPL Electric Utilities. Sheri Givens is CEO of The Smart Electric Power Alliance.
It's a big world with lots to be discovered in all kinds of places. The Smart Electric Power Alliance believes it is important to learn from what is going on in the energy and utilities industry in other countries, and so travels from time to time to see it all firsthand.
SEPA and a select group of energy executives recently returned from a mission to Australia, with fresh insights gained into how high levels of distributed, rooftop solar have changed the energy landscape. There are many lessons to be learned from the travel into the distributed energy revolution happening down under.
Public Utilities Fortnightly discussed the impacts of the transition into a more distributed energy future as seen in Australia and how that translate to the U.S., with SEPA CEO Sheri Givens and PPL Electric Utilities' VP for Distribution Sal Salet. Enjoy the journey.
PUF's Steve Mitnick: Talk about what you did in Australia.
Sal Salet: It was informative to go to Australia as a group with SEPA. It was my first trip like that under the fact-finding mission program that SEPA runs. We try to send someone from PPL almost every time they go, because they always come back with an amazing amount of information.
