The United States Energy Association's Annual State of the Energy Industry Forum brought together the heads of twenty energy industry associations in January. Herein are excerpts from the presentation by Maria Korsnick, CEO of the Nuclear Energy Institute.
 

The nuclear industry is proud to be at the center of this transition. In August, the Inflation Reduction Act became the single most important piece of legislation for nuclear really in decades.

It's creating a level playing field for all carbon-free technologies. And the IRA includes a new production tax credit that's going to help the existing fleet. It's going to help that existing fleet stay online for years to come, the first of its kind really for existing technologies.

It also encourages cutting-edge new nuclear with a clean electricity investment tax credit that covers thirty percent of that investment in new zero carbon electricity facilities, including nuclear facilities. If the company uses American manufacturing, they're going to get an additional ten percent. And if you build in a community that was supported by a retiring fossil fuel plant, well, that's another ten percent ...
