Electric vehicle implementation heralds the future for decarbonization around the globe. But it won't be easy and there is much to bring together on the roadway to build needed infrastructure, as well as to win over the hearts and minds of the public. EY Americas has experts focused on collaboration across the ecosystem and helping clients embrace EV adoption. With so much to know, PUF spoke with EY Americas eMobility Energy Leader Marc Coltelli. There is much to learn.

PUF's Steve Mitnick: What is your expectation regarding a timeline for mainstream adoption of electric vehicles in the U.S., and what needs to happen to help us get there?

Marc Coltelli: It's our view that the trajectory of electric vehicles in the U.S. can be predicted from global activity, where EV sales are up despite wider contraction in the auto industry.

Car manufacturers around the world have pivoted activity toward electrification. Our latest study reports that global EV sales doubled in 2021 and jumped fifty-five percent in 2022, accounting for thirteen percent of all vehicle sales. In Europe, the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles will effectively be banned by 2035 due to carbon dioxide emission regulations.
