The Panel on the Regulators' Last Word was the last session at CAMPUT 2023 where regulators came together to provide thought leadership on the big topic of the energy transition. Moderator and Ontario Energy Board CEO Susanna Zagar: We heard in the last few days that incremental change will no longer be enough, and we need to take bigger and bolder actions. What's your reaction to net-zero changes everything?

Canada Energy Regulator CEO Gitane De Silva: Canada has federal net-zero legislation. We're working toward it, but it can be a challenge when you're inside that box and you regulate a portion. How do you weigh the effect a little piece of infrastructure has on a broader provincial, national, or global issue?

What it is doing is forcing us to think differently. We're seeing different types of people intervene, and from the CER's perspective, it's changing how we share the ever-changing information that we have. We have a tremendous library. We have a wonderful suite of online tools, as well.
