Distributech is the largest transmission and distribution event in the country, and in 2025 expanded with focused convenings such as on data centers and AI. The event was held at the end of March in Dallas, Texas and offered education, connections, and solutions to drive the industry forward through the conference program and exhibition hall.

There were opportunities to explore innovations in electricity delivery automation, energy efficiency, demand response, and so much more. The Public Utilities Fortnightly team was there too and brings you here thoughts from attendees concerning issues of importance to the energy and utilities industry.

PUF's Joe Paparello: You are talking to utilities all the time. What are the big things you're hearing from them? What are their needs?
Casey Werth: This year, as always, utilities have a big focus on resiliency, driven by continuing concerns about natural disasters and impacts to the grid. I'm also hearing many clients redefining resiliency within the context of potential data center and AI growth. Clients are starting to analyze the potential impact to load and risks for overall grid resiliency with increased utilization.
