Accenture’s 33rd annual International Utilities and Energy Conference (IUEC) was held May 27-29 at the Conrad hotel in Washington, D.C., with senior industry executives in the energy and utilities sector, along with world-renowned industry authorities. The PUF team was there too.

While much was going on at the event, key industry thought leaders from the C-suite took time out from their busy schedules to speak with PUF Executive Editor Steve Mitnick. They gave unique perspectives on building an energy system for resilience, growth, affordability, and more.

You will learn much from these forward-looking conversations with Exelon CEO and EEI Chair Calvin Butler, Centrica CEO Chris O’Shea, and AVANGRID’s Central Maine Power CEO Joe Purington.

PUF’s Steve Mitnick: What is your job with Centrica and what do you do on a typical day?

Chris O’Shea: I’m the chief executive of Centrica. We’re one of the largest retailers of gas and electricity in the UK, one of the largest traders of gas and electricity in Europe.

We have a global LNG business and generate about ten percent of Ireland’s electricity and about ten percent of the UK’s electricity, as well. We’re one of the ten biggest gas producers in the North Sea.
