Indiana Michigan Power is proud of its balanced mix of energy with more than eighty-five percent emissions-free in 2023, which reliably powers its communities and protects the environment. That is thanks in part due to its D.C. Cook nuclear power plant.

The company serves well over six hundred thousand customers in thirty counties and one hundred sixty-four cities. It is one of seven operating companies owned by American Electric Power, which has a combined service territory spanning eleven states across America’s Heartland.

The utility is fortunate to have its COO Steve Baker, who oversees distribution operations, safety, customer service, communications, finance, external affairs, and regulatory functions. PUF’s Paul Kjellander discussed challenges in serving the Heartland with him.
