PUF
Steve Mitnick is retiring PUF Executive Editor. Deputy Editor Rachel Bryant succeeds him with the February 2026 issue.
A constant in life is change and big changes were made in 2025 when in the February issue of Public Utilities Fortnightly it was announced that PUF joined forces with the Smart Electric Power Alliance. The magazine had been published since 1929 and looked to SEPA to help it move forward.
Public Utilities Fortnightly operated under the idea of impacting the debate, and now powered by SEPA, it continues in that endeavor as a mechanism to deliver thought leadership on all issues related to the energy and utilities industry. 2025 was a year of integration and now PUF continues on its journey of addressing key challenges facing regulators and industry leaders.
A big part of the PUF journey now includes the retirement of long-time PUF Executive Editor Steve Mitnick. He handed the baton to Rachel Bryant, an engineer and lawyer who is familiar to many of our readers as her career has centered on energy. In these pages, the two discussed the change in leadership at PUF.
PUF’s Steve Mitnick: Rachel, we’ve had the chance to work closely over these past few months, and it feels like the right moment to bring our readers up to speed on what’s changing. How would you describe what’s ahead for PUF?
