Eversource
Meiyan Li, Ph.D., P.E. is a Manager of Transmission Planning at Eversource Energy with over 13 years of experience in power system planning, interconnection studies, and reliability analysis across major U.S. utilities, including Eversource, National Grid, and Dominion Energy. She leads an engineering team responsible for large load and data center interconnection guidelines, ASO studies, and large scale EMT simulations evaluating the grid impacts of inverter-based resources and rapidly growing computational loads. Her technical expertise spans steady state and transient stability, short circuit analysis, voltage performance, and EMT modeling.
PUF recognizes each year those across the utilities industry who are not content to accept the status quo. Our Fortnightly Top Innovators stand out for ingenuity, resilience, and how they move the industry forward.
As PUF readies for Top Innovators 2026, we caught up with three 2025 award-winning innovators for a look at how their projects have advanced. These remarkable leaders reflect every dimension of the energy and utility industry’s transformation.
In these conversations, you will learn more about these innovative projects with APS’s Kerri Carnes on Virtual Power Plant Delivering Targeted Grid Support, Eversource’s Meiyan Li on Advancing DER Integration with Automated Model Validation Across Time Domains, and LUMA Energy’s David Cruz on Customer Battery Energy Sharing.
PUF's Rachel Bryant: Last year’s award highlighted a major workflow breakthrough: replacing slow, manual PSCAD reviews with an automated, plug-and-play inverter model validation testbench and an intelligent interpretation tool. Where has that automated framework been deployed or expanded across your service territory?
