PUF: What's your typical day like?
Sheree Kernizan: I have eight staff members, and we function well as a team with assigned projects in various areas related to ratemaking, reliability and resource planning. With such a small group, we get help from our internal consulting group, such as Jamie's group working on renewable generation issues and the staff members working on the Vogtle nuclear project.
On a typical day we start out trying to work on our projects. We like to work proactively but must react depending on what's going on. The priority is to work on these, since this work will lead into the upcoming 2019 IRP and rate cases.
At the same time, we are called upon to work on requests from the public, customer complaints and new developments that affect our current projects. Our typical day changes all the time. It's challenging and a balancing act.
PUF: What are some of those projects?
Sheree Kernizan: One of the ongoing projects is the Georgia Power Annual Surveillance Review. Rob is handling that. As part of the Commission's order in the company's rate case, they're required to file an annual report on their earnings for that calendar year, as well as specific ratemaking items. It's like a mini rate case and takes several months to complete.
