NARUC
Dennis Deters is President of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissions as well as a Commissioner at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
Paul Kjellander is PUF Senior Advisor, former NARUC and Idaho Commission President.
NARUC holds three well-attended conferences each year and has five regional associations, which also hold annual meetings in May and June. The May issue of PUF highlighted the first three regional association meetings. This issue looks at what is coming in the two June meetings of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissions (MACRUC) and the Mid-America Regulatory Conference (MARC).
PUF’s Senior Advisor Paul Kjellander, former Idaho Commission and NARUC President, talked with leaders at MARC and MACRUC on what to expect at those conferences. Those leaders are MACRUC President and Ohio Commissioner Dennis Deters and MARC President and Wisconsin Chair Summer Strand.
Each regional association elects its own officers, maintains independent bylaws, hosts annual meetings/education conferences, and convenes during NARUC meetings. Be sure to attend the national meeting, the NARUC Summer Summit, from July 19-22 in Minneapolis.
PUF’s Paul Kjellander: As your role as president of MACRUC comes to an end with the annual meeting, what are you seeing as one of the biggest challenges facing regulators in your region?
