MACRUC's incoming President, Willie Phillips, Chair of the District of Columbia Public Service Commission, was first appointed to the PSC in 2014 and reappointed to serve as Chair in 2018. He spoke to the virtual attendees of the regional conference via a recorded message where he announced his theme for the upcoming year.

MACRUC's President, West Virginia Commissioner Brooks McCabe, then closed out the meeting.

Incoming MACRUC President and District of Columbia Public Service Commission Chair Willie Phillips: This is Willie Phillips, Chairman of the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia. I'm humbled by the trust you've placed in me and D.C. to lead MACRUC in the coming year.

With all that's going on in the world, it'd be easy to turn away from organizations like MACRUC. Hunkering down in isolation to ride out the storm can be a wise approach, but I'd argue that in times like these, we should draw close. We must recognize the strength that diversity of thought and ideas provide as we navigate uncertain waters.

Public interest drives us to a common goal, and I'm echoing in my theme - policy, process, and people. Policy, modernizing our energy delivery systems. Process, engaging our stakeholders and partners. And people, inspiring compassion and learning for consumers and investors.
