Siemens provides 157 wind turbines for three projects in South Africa

Siemens secured a large wind power contract in South Africa for an order of 157 wind turbines for three projects in the Northern Cape from Mainstream Renewable Power. The 2.3-MW machines of the Siemens G2 platform will be installed at the wind power plants Khobab, Loeriesfontein 2 and Noupoort, with a combined generation capacity of 360 MW. The new contract includes a service and maintenance agreement for a period of 10 years.

IKEA to Acquire 46 MW Wind Power Farm in Canada

Mainstream Renewable Power has closed a deal to sell its 46-MW Oldman 2 Wind Farm, located in Alberta Canada, to IKEA. Mainstream has commenced construction of the project at a cost of approximately CAD$90m and it is expected to be operational in the autumn of 2014 at which point IKEA will purchase the plant. As part of the deal Mainstream will continue to operate and maintain the wind farm on behalf of IKEA for its lifespan.

Mainstream to Sell Carrickeeny Wind Farm in Ireland to IKEA

Mainstream Renewable Power closed a deal to sell its 7.65-MW Carrickeeny Wind Farm to IKEA. Mainstream has commenced construction of the project which is located in Leitrim in the North West of Ireland and it is expected to be operational in early 2014 at which point IKEA will purchase the plant. As part of the deal Mainstream will continue operate and maintain the wind farm on behalf of IKEA for its 20-year lifespan. This acquisition will increase the total number of wind turbines that the IKEA Group has committed to owning and operating to 137.
