ABB and Samsung SDI Join Forces to Develop Microgrids Globally

ABB and Samsung SDI signed a memorandum of understanding to promote microgrid solutions globally. The two companies will establish a global commercial alliance to develop and market modular and scalable microgrid solutions, utilizing lithium-ion batteries for energy storage. ABB will provide technologies for electrification, control optimization, stabilization and consulting services. Samsung SDI will provide the batteries and the battery management system.

New Phase of Canada-China Nuclear Energy Cooperation Welcomed by Candu

Candu Energy signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Natural Resources Canada and the China National Energy Administration to advance collaboration between the two countries in the field of civilian nuclear energy including development of advanced fuel reactors and exports to third markets. Candu also signed a framework joint venture agreement with China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) to build advanced fuel CANDU reactor (AFCR) projects in China and develop opportunities for it globally.

Aquion and Siemens Partner on Energy Storage System

Aquion Energy signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Siemens Industry under which both parties will test the integration of Aquion’s AHI batteries and Siemens’ Sinamics S120 drive technology. As part of the MOU, Siemens purchased an initial set of Aquion batteries for immediate shipment to their manufacturing and test facility in Alpharetta, Ga.

GE and Toshiba form a global strategic alliance

GE and Toshiba signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to form a global strategic alliance, under which the two companies would jointly develop select combined-cycle power generation projects around the world. The two companies will explore the formation of a strategic joint venture for the development of next-generation combined-cycle power projects with higher levels of thermal efficiency.
