ABB designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned a 1,200-kV circuit breaker the highest AC voltage level in the world. Once the 1200-kV ultrahigh-voltage switchgear is fully operational, it will have a switching capacity of 10,400 MW - a switch capable of turning ON' or OFF' the electricity generated by 10 large power plants or the combined average annual electrical load of Switzerland and Denmark, within milliseconds.
Power Grid Corporation of India
ABB won orders worth around $56 million from Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID), to supply power transformers and shunt reactors for substations being built to support the country's ultrahigh voltage transmission grid development. Fourteen 500 megavolt ampere (MVA), 765 kV ultrahigh voltage single-phase auto-transformers based on ABB's technology will be installed at greenfield substations being constructed in Kanpur and Varanasi.
