Trina Solar Announces Sale of 10.6-MW PV Power Plant to Funds Managed by Foresight Group

Trina Solar Limited (Trina Solar) signed a share purchase agreement to sell its 10.6-MW PV power plant located in Trehawke, UK to funds managed by Foresight Group LLP (Foresight). This is the first of two Trina Solar UK projects that connected to the grid in Q1 2014.The utility-scale Trehawke solar power plant utilizes 41,404 Trina Solar TSM-255-PC05A modules that provide high quality, durability and performance. The solar power plant generates 10,300 MWh of electricity every year.

ReneSola to Develop 13-MW Solar Farm Project in United Kingdom

ReneSola Ltd will develop a 13-MW solar project in Dorset, England and expects the solar farm to be fully operational and connected to the national energy grid by end of 2014. The company has identified a number of potential buyers for the project, which received planning consent in January 2014 and is eligible for the United Kingdom's support scheme to promote renewable electricity-generating technologies. The project will feature ReneSola PV modules exclusively, specifically the Virtus II.

ABB Commissions World's Highest Capacity HVDC Light Underwater Power Link

ABB delivered the East West Interconnector, the world’s highest capacity HVDC light underwater power link, to EirGrid, the Irish transmission system operator. The 500-MW transmission connection establishes a link between the Irish and U.K. grids, enabling cross-border power flows and enhancing grid reliability and security of electricity supplies. The new link also facilitates power trading between the two countries and connects Ireland to the European grid.

Sensus to Provide Communications for Britain Smart Meter Rollout

Sensus was selected to provide the core communications technology to support the UK government’s plan to put smart meters in millions of homes and small businesses by 2020. Sensus technology will support the rollout of electric and gas smart meters to ten million locations in the northern region of Great Britain, subject to contract. The UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announced that communications company Arqiva has been selected to provide the smart metering communications service for Northern England and Scotland.
