This year, DistribuTECH International had a theme of "Experience the Energy Movement," with thirteen educational tracks and a massive exposition floor holding over five hundred booths. The PUF team met up with innovators making a difference with emerging technologies useful to the grid space.

 

PUF's Steve Mitnick: Talk about some of the exciting work you're doing for the industry at Hitachi Energy. Start with substations.

Anthony Allard: There is so much to say. It's hard to pick one. On the substation side, there is a lot to say around transformers. This is a big topic now as there is a situation in the market where there is an imbalance between supply and demand.

This has been ongoing for months. This is a situation where we believe that this imbalance will remain, at least for the foreseeable future, because there is such a strong need right now in the market.

PUF: Hitachi Energy is a major producer of transformers. Where do you stand as far as ranking?

Anthony Allard: We're the largest transformers manufacturer in the world. So, we have a global footprint. We have a strong presence here in the U.S., where we have multiple factories.
