Enbridge Acquires 103-MW West Virginia Wind Project

Enbridge acquired a 100 percent interest in the 103- MW New Creek Wind Project, from EverPower Wind Holdings. Enbridge's total investment is approximately $20 million. Located in Grant County, West Virginia, New Creek Wind will comprise 49 Gamesa G97/G90 turbines and is targeted to be in service in December 2016. The project was developed by EverPower Wind Holdings. New Creek will be constructed under a fixed-EPC agreement with White Construction.

MidAmerican Energy’s New Iowa Wind Farm to Feature Concrete Tower

MidAmerican Energy Company's new wind farm in Adams County, Iowa will include a first for the company - a concrete wind turbine tower. MidAmerican Energy has contracted with Siemens for the supply and construction of its new concrete tower design. The 2.3-MW concrete tower turbine at the Adams wind farm will measure 377 feet from ground to hub, compared to 263 feet for most of the turbines in use at other MidAmerican Energy wind farms. The concrete turbine is one of 64 wind turbines planned for the Adams wind farm.

EDF Renewable Energy Enters into Partnership with Procter & Gamble to Supply Electricity

Via its subsidiary EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE), the EDF Group entered into a partnership with Procter & Gamble (P&G) to supply electricity to all North American manufacturing sites for P&G laundry and household products using wind energy. The electricity sold to P&G, within the context of a long-term PPA, will be generated by a wind power farm due to go into operation at the end of 2016 in Cooke County, Texas.

ITC Energizes Thumb Loop Transmission Line

ITCTransmission completed the Thumb Loop high-voltage transmission project with the energization of the third and final phase of the project. ITC invested $510 million to build the 345 kV line, which serves as the backbone of a system designed to meet the identified maximum wind energy potential of Michigan's Thumb region. It also will contribute to regional system reliability and facilitate wholesale market competition.

RES Americas Executes PPA with Wolverine Power Cooperative

RES America Developments entered into a 20-year PPA with Wolverine Power Supply Cooperative (Wolverine) for 114 MW of wind energy and associated renewable energy credits in the Thumb of Michigan. The wind power will be sourced from the Deerfield Wind Energy project, which is located in Huron County, Michigan. RES Americas developed and will construct the project and Wolverine, which is owned by and supplies wholesale electric power to seven members, will be the recipient of the 114 MW of electricity generated by the project.

Element Power Signs 200 MW PPA with KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations

Element Power US, owner and developer of the Mill Creek Wind Farm, and KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations have entered into a PPA for a 200 MW wind energy facility to be built in Holt County, Missouri. The 200 MW project, once operational, will be the largest in the state of Missouri. The project currently has approximately 25,000 acres under lease with over 100 landowner partners. ABB Microgrid Control Technology Enables Wind Energy to Remote Island

ABB delivered and commissioned a microgrid control solution that enables the island of Faial in the Atlantic Ocean to add more wind energy to its power mix without destabilizing the network. The island of 15,000 inhabitants has an electricity network which operates as a self-contained microgrid, powered by six oil-fired generators that produce up to 17 MW of electric power.
