Richard D. Spencer, lately of General Electric Corp., has been hired by Equitable Resources, Inc. as v.p. and chief information officer. He was technology programs manager at GE.

Commonwealth Edison Co. has formed a new nuclear division management team. Thomas J. Maiman, senior v.p., is the top executive. He moves from the company's fossil division. Michael J. Wallace, another senior v.p., will market the utility on strategic nuclear business issues. Harold Keiser, chief nuclear operating officer, will handle day-to-day operations of ComEd's six nuclear plants.

Richard Drouin, former chair and CEO of Hydro-Québec, has joined the board of directors at American Superconductor Corp.

Stephen Morrissette has been promoted to strategic planning manager at Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corp. Richard Neuman also has been promoted to field products manager.

Eastern Enterprises has created a new position, v.p. of business development, and hired Terry D. Ray to fill it. Ray comes from Equitable Resources, Inc., where he was strategic management director.

Joan S. Freilich and John F. Cioffi were promoted at Consolidated Edison, while Raymond J. McCann, CFO, ended a 40-year career with the company. Freilich becomes senior v.p. and CFO; Cioffi, v.p. and controller.

Thomas S. Richards, president and COO of Rochester Gas & Electric Corp., was elected to the board of directors. Also at RG&E, Nancy D. Hessler was hired as group manager for human resource services. She comes from Xerox Corp.

Duke Energy Asia, Ltd. has named François K. Lung v.p.
