Ann D. Murtlow, a vice president of AES Corp., was named president and CEO of Indianapolis Power & Light Co., and its holding company, IPALCO, a subsidiary of AES. Murtlow has been with AES for more than 15 years.

Avista Corp. announced the nomination of Roy Lewis Eiguren to the company's board of directors. Eiguren is a senior partner at Givens Pursley LLP. In his law practice, he counsels utility companies on regulatory compliance and other matters. Prior to 1984, he worked as special assistant to the administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration.

Kevin P. Madden has been named executive vice president of distribution and pipeline operations for AGL Resources. Madden joined AGL last year from FERC, where he served as general counsel. During his time at FERC, he helped craft and implement several landmark decisions, including Order 2000.

Calpine Corp. has promoted Bill Berligen to president of Calpine Natural Gas Co. He has managed the company's natural gas subsidiary since Calpine acquired Sheridan Energy in 1999. 

Paula Hix has been appointed executive vice president of exploration for Chroma Energy Inc. Prior to this appointment Hix was senior director of technology for Enron Global Exploration & Production. She was chief geophysicist for Enron Oil & Gas Co. from 1993 through 1999. Prior to 1993, she worked in various capacities for the Shell Companies.

ConocoPhillips announced more management position appointments. Andrew J. Kelleher, currently vice president, commercial for Phillips, will become president, Americas supply and trading. J. Michael Stice, currently manager, gas marketing for Conoco, will become president, gas and power. Rex W. Bennett, currently manager, gas and power marketing for Conoco, will become general manager, risk management. Todd W. Fredin, currently president and general manager, Conoco International, will become general manager, Europe supply and trading. Sarah A. Edman, currently manager, natural gas liquids for Conoco, will become manager, natural gas liquids. L. Clint Plant, currently downstream finance manager, refining, marketing, supply, and transportation for Conoco, will become manager, finance and commercial integration. James T. Webster, currently manager, crude supply and marketing west for Phillips, will become manager, Asia supply and trading. And Chris W. Conway, currently manager, supply and trading North America for Conoco, will become general manager, Americas crude and will serve as lead of the global crude optimization team.

Larry Schmid has been named CFO for Great River Energy. He replaces Ron Larson, who became CEO of Split Rock Energy. Schmid has served as manager of financial services for Great River since January 1999. He joined the company in 1978 as a budget analyst.

Hydro Energy of Norsk Hydro has appointed Hilde Myrberg as sector president. She takes over from Reidar Saether, who is stepping down after seven years as head of Hydro Energy. Myrberg has held various positions with the company since she joined it in 1985. Hanne Harlem has been appointed to replace Myrberg. Harlem was with Hydro from 1998 through 2000, when she left to serve as Norway's Minister of Justice until February 2002, when she returned to Hydro.
