New Opportunities: The New York Independent System Operator (ISO) named Thomas J. Rumsey as v.p. of external affairs. He was communications leader for GE Power & Water.

NV Energy promoted Robert Stewart to senior v.p. of customer relations.

Calpine Corp. appointed Todd Thornton as treasurer and he now holds the title of v.p.-finance & treasurer.

The California ISO appointed Keith Casey, Ph.D., as v.p. market and infrastructure development. The ISO evolved the position of Karen Edson, v.p. external affairs to v.p., policy and client services.

FirstEnergy Corp. announced that William R. Ridmann was promoted to v.p., rates and regulatory affairs from director of state regulatory affairs. He succeeds David M. Blank, who retired. Its subsidiary, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Co. (FENOC), promoted Peter Sena to v.p. of FENOC operations from v.p. of the Beaver Valley nuclear power station; Paul Harden was promoted to v.p. of Beaver Valley from v.p. of FENOC nuclear support; and Don Moul, is named v.p. of FENOC nuclear support from director of engineering at Davis-Besse nuclear station.

PPL Montana promoted Pete Simonich to v.p. and COO from manager-generating assets.
