Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) received an order for a world's largest post combustion CO2 capture system for the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project in Texas, which is primarily promoted by NRG Energy and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (JX Nippon) of Japan. The system will capture CO2 from flue gas from an existing coal-fired power generation plant and will have a CO2 capture capacity of 4,776 metric tons per day (mtpd).
NRG eVgo, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, plans to roll out the EZ-Charge (SM) platform, an initiative that will offer EV drivers the ability to access multiple EV charging networks with a single all-access card. The EZ-Charge card will support all eVgo public charging plans and enable EV drivers to enroll in participating partner network plans either through their charging company or directly with eVgo. eVgo expects to begin distributing EZ-Charge cards this summer to EV drivers with participating plans in San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas-Ft.

NRG Energy acquired Roof Diagnostics Solar (RDS), a residential solar company. Over the next month, the company will begin operating under the brand NRG Residential Solar Solutions. Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.
NRG Energy and Edison Mission Energy (EME) jointly announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the sale of substantially all of EME's assets to NRG. The acquisition of EME's portfolio of renewable and conventional generation assets will create the second-largest US power company. EME will add nearly 8,000 MW of generating capacity to the combined company's diverse portfolio of both conventional and wind generation facilities. The transaction closed on April 1, 2014.
NRG Energy entered into agreements with Dominion Resources to acquire its retail electric business. Once completed, the acquisition will support NRG's ongoing efforts to expand the company's retail footprint in the Northeast and to grow its retail position in Texas.The transaction closed at the end of March.

NRG Energy and Virgin Limited Edition entered into a diesel reduction agreement for the provision of renewable power to Necker Island. Pursuant to this agreement, NRG will develop a renewables-driven microgrid for the entire island, supplying reliable electricity powered at least 75% by an integrated array of solar, wind and energy storage technologies.
