Southern Company Subsidiary and Turner Renewable Energy Acquire Morelos Del Sol Solar Facility in California

Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy acquired the 15- MW Morelos del Sol Solar Facility from Solar Frontier Americas. Southern Power's eighth solar acquisition in California. DEPCOM Power is providing EPC services and will also operate and maintain the facility for Southern Power. Construction of the plant began in July, and commercial operation is expected in late November.

First Solar Sells Macho Springs Solar Project to Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy

First Solar sold the 50-MW Macho Springs Solar Power Plant to Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy. El Paso Electric has a 20-year PPA for all energy generated by the power plant. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The power plant, located on approximately 600 acres of State Trust land near Deming, New Mexico, is the state's largest solar power plant.

SunEdison Closes on 20 MW Adobe Solar Facility in California

SunEdison interconnected a 20-MW AC solar plant in Kern County, California. The project, known as the Adobe Solar Facility, is owned by Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy and is composed of 80,000 SunEdison Silvantis Solar PV modules. SunEdison was responsible for building the Adobe facility, and will provide asset management and 24/7 monitoring and maintenance services through its renewable operations center.

Southern Power and Partner Turner Renewable Energy to Acquire California Solar Plant

Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power acquired the company's second solar PV installation in California – the 20-MW Adobe Solar Facility – in partnership with Turner Renewable Energy. The Southern Power-Turner Renewable Energy partnership's sixth solar project acquisition is expected to close upon the successful completion of construction, which is anticipated in spring 2014. The Adobe Solar Facility will be built, operated and maintained by SunEdison.

Southern Power Acquires 139-MW Solar Plant in Clark County, Nevada

Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power, in partnership with Turner Renewable Energy, began commercial operation on the Spectrum Solar Facility, located in Clark County, Nevada. The 30-MW solar PV installation utilizes tracking technology that enables greater efficiency by directing solar panels to track the sun as it moves across the sky. The 311-acre site was built and will be operated and maintained by SunEdison.
