Siemens to Supply Wind Turbines for 38-MW Onshore Project in France

Siemens was awarded an order for the delivery, installation and commissioning of 12 direct drive wind turbines at the Les Gourlous wind farm in France. The SWT- 3.2-113 turbines for the wind farm in the Champagne-Ardennes region in France will have a total capacity of 38.4 MW. Siemens will be providing long-term service for the new project within a 20-year service and maintenance agreement. The new project is scheduled for commissioning in November 2016.

MidAmerican Energy’s New Iowa Wind Farm to Feature Concrete Tower

MidAmerican Energy Company's new wind farm in Adams County, Iowa will include a first for the company - a concrete wind turbine tower. MidAmerican Energy has contracted with Siemens for the supply and construction of its new concrete tower design. The 2.3-MW concrete tower turbine at the Adams wind farm will measure 377 feet from ground to hub, compared to 263 feet for most of the turbines in use at other MidAmerican Energy wind farms. The concrete turbine is one of 64 wind turbines planned for the Adams wind farm.

Algonquin Power to Develop 150-MW Wind Project in the U.S.

Algonquin Power & Utilities jointly developed the 150-MW Deerfield wind power project with Renewable Energy Systems Americas. The project will utilize turbine technology comprised of 44 Vestas V110-2.0 wind turbines and 28 Vestas V110-2.2 turbines and is estimated to generate 555.2 GW-hrs annually. Deerfield has a 20-year PPA with Wolverine Power Supply Cooperative.

EDF Renewable Energy Enters into Partnership with Procter & Gamble to Supply Electricity

Via its subsidiary EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE), the EDF Group entered into a partnership with Procter & Gamble (P&G) to supply electricity to all North American manufacturing sites for P&G laundry and household products using wind energy. The electricity sold to P&G, within the context of a long-term PPA, will be generated by a wind power farm due to go into operation at the end of 2016 in Cooke County, Texas.

E.ON Solar Completes the Maricopa West Facility Located in Southern California

E.ON Solar, a subsidiary of E.ON SE, completed the construction phase of Maricopa West, a 20-MW solar project located in Southern California. The complex has obtained a conditional use permit from Kern County, an incidental take permit from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and a habitat conservation plan under Section 10 of the Endangered Species Act from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Maricopa West solar project will utilize single-axis tracking and consist of 89,000 photovoltaic panels.

SunEdison Completes Construction of New Hampshire's Largest Solar Power Plant

SunEdison completed construction on New Hampshire's largest solar power plant, a 942-KW solar power plant for the town of Peterborough. SunEdison will supply solar energy generated by this system to the town over the next 20 years. SunEdison collaborated with Borrego Solar to complete the project after acquiring it from Borrego Solar earlier in 2015. The system was funded in part by a grant from the New Hampshire Public Utility Commission.

Southern Company Subsidiary Acquires 200-MW California Solar Project

Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power, acquired a controlling interest in the 200- MW Tranquillity Solar Facility in California from Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. Recurrent Energy is constructing the facility and will retain the remaining interest in the project. Construction began in July, with Signal Energy Constructors managing the engineering, procurement and construction of the facility. The project is expected to enter commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Vestas Receives 40-MW Contract for Wind Project in India

Vestas received an order for 20 V110-2.0 MW turbines for a wind power plant in Gujarat State, India. The order for the Khambaliya project is an extension of an existing contract with Powerica Ltd., a power solutions provider in India. Among the 40 MW for this project, 12 MW constitutes an upgrade from a part of a previous order for turbines with the V100 platform, and the remaining 28 MW is newly added. The order includes the supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines, which is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2016.

E.ON Solar's Maricopa West Facility Starts Construction

E.ON Solar, a subsidiary of E.ON SE, announced that Maricopa West, a 20-MW solar project in Kern County, California, has entered the construction phase. Maricopa West occupies land in Southern California purchased by E.ON Solar from Maricopa Orchards. The solar park will utilize a single-axis tracking system and consist of 89,000 PV panels. It will be fully operational later this year.
