Toshiba to Participate in Large-scale Hydrogen Research Project in Scotland
Submitted by aburr on Wed, 2015-03-25 14:27Toshiba will participate in the Levenmouth Community Energy Project in Fife, Scotland, a 4-year project to investigate the potential of hydrogen as a future fuel. The project will run from 2015 to 2020 in a redevelopment area of the Methil Docks in Methil, Fife. Electricity generated by wind and solar power will be used to power a hydrogen producing water electrolysis system, and the hydrogen will be stored and used as a fuel source for hybrid commercial vehicles (HCV) powered by fuel cells and diesel engines.

NET Power Secures Funding for Carbon Capture Plant in Texas
Submitted by aburr on Thu, 2014-10-23 12:49NET Power secured funding and agreements for its $140 million, 50-MW demonstration power plant, that produces no greenhouse gas emissions and includes full carbon capture without requiring carbon capture equipment. The project is funded by a combination of cash and in-kind contributions from Exelon and CB&I. Toshiba has begun manufacturing a CO2 turbine for the project. Operations, maintenance and development arrangements have been completed with Exelon.
Toshiba Concludes a MOU with Ethiopian Electric Power on Geothermal Power Generation
Submitted by aburr on Wed, 2014-10-01 13:05Toshiba concluded a MOU with Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) on a comprehensive partnership in geothermal power to collaborate in power generation projects and personnel development. EEP, a publicly owned utility, engages in the development of geothermal resources and the construction of power plants. Through the partnership with EEP, Toshiba will draw on its experience in geothermal systems to develop and manufacture major equipment, create operation and management guidelines, cooperate in personnel development, and start a waste heat utilization business.

Toshiba Delivers Battery Energy Storage Systems for Project to Expand Use of Renewable Energy Sources
Submitted by aburr on Tue, 2014-03-18 13:01Toshiba delivered battery energy storage systems integrating the company's SCiB, an lithium-ion secondary battery to Kyushu Electric Power, for a demonstration project to expand introduction of renewable energy sources on remote islands. The systems have been installed in substations on Tanegashima Island and Amamioshima Island, in Kagoshima prefecture. The demonstration program will run for three years to fiscal 2016.
